There are selections that pop up on the screen that aren't mentioned in the user manual. Instructions are manageable but not worth going through that many steps to realize you can't change the a. The time is hard to read.

It has no battery back-up, but it has a capacitor to store power if/when the electricity goes out. There are two brightness one is 100% full, and one is adjustable from 0% to 100% with a dial on the bottom. The brightness is adjustable for sleeping.

It blows away my old clock radio. This is now my second sangean radio, i also own the hdr-18 table am-fm hd radio. Very pleased with this radio.
