The sliding tray works great. It stays in place and moves smoothly. You press down on the lever, which engages the front wheels and allows easy sliding.

This is one of my best (if not the best) purchases i've made from amazon! My only regret is i didn't buy this sooner. Love random amazon finds!

It rolls nicely but the ninja foodie grill flips backward when you open the lid. Also, the latch to release the tray is awkward to push down.
