Pros and Cons
Pros3

The shure mv5 is undoubtedly the best condenser mic (for the $$$) on the market. The mic has good pickup at a variety of distances (1-3’) and works fine with the background filtration on my windows system. I use a camera tripod to lift it up to my fac...  Read More

The mv5 microphone has a headphone jack on it - that's what you'll want to use, rather than the headphonejack on your pc/mac/laptop/tablet/phone. The microphone can be used with or without headphones and connects directly to your laptop via provided u...  Read More

There is a mute button on the mic itself which makes it easy to quickly mute when needed. A headphone monitor jack allows you to monitor what you are saying. No issues with the knob, it works well.

Cons2

Shureplus motiv app is only for ios. They advertise apple mfi (made for iphone/ipod/ipad) certified for direct connection to any ios device without the need for any additional adapters or connection kits. It will not work with facetime or for phone ca...  Read More

This mic is really a disappointment, though, for the dumbest reason. It is mostly for podcasting your voice in mono. The controls for the mic are terribly placed on the rear of the unit.

Pros2

This is independent from the microphone proper -- it's in the stand / mic holder, and it's just great. Not terrible for 40 bucks guys. Perfect for someone trying to start or enlarge their studio on a budget.

Good quality condenser mic, does what it is intended to do. Connects directly into audio jack, toss out the cheap and * usb sound card.

Cons2

It's either 0 or 100, there's no in between whatsoever. Not like i'm using obsolete or cheap components either. Their now is no foam on the clamp and this causes it to rub and scratch the desk. Definitely a waste of money.

It peaks at low volumes, and sounds distorted even when not peaking. I'm not exaggerating when i say that if i move more than 2 inches from the mic, i have to scream to get any sound to pick up.
