I love the art, but it does not suggest the grit of dueling factions with an insurrection brewing underneath that obvious struggle. The mechanics are not complex but have sufficient nut-and-bolts to allow for good character differentiation.
The magnetic board is not that strong to hold the pieces but still it holds them good. It's great for practicing chess. The ai is incredible. It will give you suggestions for moves.
A computer chess opponent is a necessity to have an opponent on a regular basis. You can change the style of the computer to normal, passive, very passive, and aggressive. It works just fine and the battery lasts long.
It's a little small for my fingers (but i purchased it for my nephew who is ten years old. Bought for 11 year old grandson.
The lcd board is old and not clear at all. The only way i could read the screen is by shinning a flashlight directly on the screen. The command * are not really intuitive, so it is difficult to use.
The magnets are very weak and the pieces come loose with ease. You waste a lot of time trying to determine why the first move is incorrect. From above, pawns look like pawns, the other pieces all look about the same.
