The cardboard pieces are a nice thick material with a linen finish. The meeples are big and chunky but i do wish they had a second paint coat. It's kind of pricey, but i'm glad i have it. It is a nifty design.
The contents inside seem fine, but the top of the lid was broken in two corners and smashed in another. However, it’s getting a poor rating because of the actual game box.
There are two extra queens of each color to help you deal with pawns that have evolved. The magnets are strong enough to hold the pieces in place during play.
The board is actual wood - i think a thin laminate, but still better than plastic. Each piece has a place in the foam insert to keep them from rattling around.
The checkers pieces don't fit well inside and can cause a bump when using the board. Very cheaply made and glued together for the price.
