Not designed for pumping water out of a fountain. Units stops working after a few minutes of usage. Moust likely a heat problem.

This fountain pump works perfectly in my shallow bird bath. Has probes on the bottom to shut off the unit if the water gets too low. Works exactly as you would expect it to.
