The smart bot turns on when water is at 2 inches. Since it has a rollover protection, i have no fear of failure thanks to its sensor. The red lights look creepy in the sump like eyes which have been fun with my kids.

For routine draining of our spa. I have a drain under my deck that backs up every time there is a heavy rain. We live in a flood zone and this has helped our neighbors as well.

The pump seems to be a solid unit with some heft to it and seems sturdy enough to hold up for a long time. Oh, and it looks pretty darn cool too.
