Read & write speeds are as advertised. It goes slightly above the advertised speed, doesn't dip in performance for even a second. Speed is comparable to the system ssd and games run smoothly on it.
My 1 tb system (where only 825 gb was useable) now has 2. After formatting the ssd it adds the full 1tb of memory. Youtube videos exist to help install, and it is easier than it sounds.
As installed the unit meets my expectations delivering the speed, cooling (with a thermal pad supplied with my enclosure) and reliability so far. No hiccups, no problems.
An issue with this drive prevents it from getting the full advertised speed. Will not go over 635 megabytes per second. I'm not sure if it was the ssd or the update that messed up my ps5.
The drive is double sided with chips on both sides. I have to reset my pc about 2-3 times just for my computer to recognize it's there. This wd hardware is junk, and so is wd's rma service.
