It is definitely meant to be used with an xlr microphone. I have astro a40s tr and can still use the mix amp with the goxlr which is awesome. My favorite part is probably the level of mic monitor.

The goxlr is a fantastic concept, but it ultimately falls short because of the price.
The audio quality is terrible. The mic is still loose even when i cranked all the settings in the app and on windows to the max.

The most glaring problem with the goxlr is its terrible self-monitoring. Although it can be figured out with some playing around and finagling, there are still a variety of shortcomings. This is not a new shortcoming.
