If you don't have a cable box and are streaming, all you have to do is plug it in and it will do the rest. Comes with an optical cable, no hdmi. Plugged in using hdmi arc, bass and sound bar connected immediately.

The sound quality is subpar even for the price but the real problem is the subwoofer.

It has super crisp and clear dialog. Fills my 400sqft den with immersive 5. Dolby atmos sound.

It’s not just mumbled up loudness. Blows me away.

I have everything hooked up through hdmi (earc) and it just makes everything simplified. The bar and sub were immediately recognized by the tv and paired automatically. I let the tv control the sound mode, whether dolby atmos or cinematic, etc.

Bass is really disappointing reall not better than the built-in speakers in the lg c1 tv. It's almost as if the sub isn't on with stock settings. Terrible owners manual not even explaining how to connect the subwoofer to the system.

Turns out it’s some circuit board that failed and is a wide spread problem. Won’t ever by them again. Will update if ever resolved, not holding my breath.
