It's ok if you are just needing something quick and don't plan on sharing scans professionally or printing them. Poor design for a product who's sole purpose is to archive the past.
As for power, they include a usb cable, but no power source, not a little 110v plug to go into a wall outlet. What a disappointment.

Does a decent but really low resolution (equal to about a 5 mega pixel camera, forget about the 22 mega pixel rating) job on slides. Very frustrating when the slides themselves are sharp as a tack.
