The strands are long and soft material. Soft stands up to washing. Cats love the softness. It's very soft and snuggly.

I use it instead of a sheet because it breathes/ventilates. Great, very comfortable and soft. The duvet seems to be well made.

The picture online appears lavender. The charcoal color is more blue than in the photo. It is all over the washing machine and it is dangerous for my kids.
