It seems to stay a bit hotter than it displays. Is the coolest i can set the unit. It is super easy to set and change the temp setting and holds the temp accurately.

I have a 3 gallon (pretty much the same as the marineland contour 3 gallon kit) desktop aquarium with a betta fish. This is the best nano tank heater i’ve found so far.
The thermostat is outside the tank making checking the temperature easy. I love knowing what the temp is and it's easy to read if you tie strap the cord in the right place. The digital readout displays the tank temperature for easy monitoring.
The water temperature is maintained within a degree of the preset temperature. It maintains the temperature within less than half adgree fahrenheit. However, it tops out at 75 degrees, so make sure it handles your desired temperature range.
My best guess is perhaps the heater leached something into the water. I think this reflects the temp at the sensor - inside the heating unit - and not that the entire tank is drifting up and down noticibly.
