The shorter style is easier to attach to my belt when i'm walking the dogs. Great lite, swivel head make it easierto use, around outside and inside. Long life battery.

It's very durable and has a bit of heft to it. As far as the durability i can't say since i don't use it for work. It has different modes and the sos is the most useful one.
