Pros and Cons

Pros5

The mic has a cardioid pickup pattern, meaning the main source of audio that you’ll hear is directly in-front of the mic. It works nicely on adobe audition and anchor. The mute/unmute button is also a plus for zoom meetings.

Off axis sound rejection is great. It picks up well and audio is clear and undistorted. It is very sensitive and it will pick up all audio directly in front and even to the side of the microphone.

The mic has an all metal body and shock mount with a slip on foam windscreen. Mounts well to any standard stand or desk mounted boom arm. Foam windshield does a decent job with plosives but i’d still advise talking somewhat across the mic.

Construction is very-sturdy and appears to be all-metal. This thing feels solid and exudes a sense of quality. The quality is right up there with my mv shure7 mv.

The built in converter is fantastic and on a mac is plug and play. Comes with a usb cable and also has a converter that allows you to plug it into an iphone. It comes with a y adapter so you canplug it into your phone/pad and still plug something else...  Read More

Pros3

The shure is a cardioid dynamic mic. If you aren't in a supremely sound proofed environment, say a bedroom you've done no sound dampening to, this is fantastic. Xlr connection is good, and it fits the holder it came with.

It's also indestructible. It is durable, and has superb sound. Sturdy and reliable.

If you are on a really tight budget, the sm48 is also a very good microphone. The sm58 is the gig/live/rehearsal mic of choice any day. It's a classic and there's a reason it's a standard in the industry.

Cons3

Why drive a pinto when you can drive a cadillac?

No real texture, doesn't grab you, very poor tradoesn't convey any feeling at all. They also feedback all too easily for a working band (high end feedback issues) horrible sound.

The sm58 is the most overrated mic ever made.
