If you plug a controller in it disappears and windows starts playing the 'new usb device connected' sound effect. Would not recommend in the slightest.

The gauge of wire will not work with the gauge coming off the harness from your car. Splicing two wires of such different gauges is problematic. The impedance mismatch alone is going to cause heat problems at operating currents.
