You need a small phillips head screwdriver to take out the 2 screws to put in 3 aaa batteries. There is a hook that sits flush against the unit so not to get in the way when not in use.

These are bright and visible from quite a distance. They're plenty bright for daytime emergency use. They show up great in the mirrors & on cameras, especially night-vision ir cameras.

My sister uses to decorate the door at her niece's wedding just to get people's attention. Very bright and sturdy.

Very disappointing. Not watertight now. These are junk. Into the trash within 2 months.
