There are little grippy dots all over the backside of the cover. There is also a giant elastic strap that goes around the seat back. The gripping backside keeps the covers in place.

Waterproof for spills or outdoor activities. Great water barrier. Works well after swimming.

The lining of this cover is not at all waterproof even though the product description says that it is. It is not even close to the grey in the pictures. It has already torn after one day.
