for changes to meet your expectation they bent over backward to work with us Their response time was incredible in getting to our emails and when things got a little crunchy for us in the leadup they were always available to us on Skype to handhold us through issues that arose The guide and driver that were with us throughout were both magnificent They navigated an unimaginable amount of redtape documentation and whatnot while still keeping us entertained and informed The company owners took time to meet with us in Lhasa and while your mileage may vary on getting that level of contact I am confident that should you want to meet with management theyll make sure someone gets to you no matter where you are at home or in China As you will have read elsewhere yesyou will have to put up with some conditions that are challenging The hotels and restaurants offered though were as close to a Western standard as possible without going overboard we want to eat where locals eat not in places serving western fare We want to stay in comfortable local hotels not attempt to replicate a western chain Its a challenging placebe prepared for it and hire Tibet Native theyll get you from point A to point B in comfort Some specifics that merit your consideration as well When Tibet Native gives you advice about how to obtain your China visalisten to them They wont tell you to lie on your Chinese visa that would be unprofessional However I will tell you that you cannot put your legitimate itinerary on your visa application unless you are traveling in a group of 5 or more As a party of two I decided not to take Tibet Natives advice and I put our full Tibet itinerary on my visa applicationit was promptly declined multiple times When Tibet Native gives you advice take it when it comes to a visa I will also say that we took the overland exit to Nepal option and you will be given the option to either BOOK transportation to Kathmandu with Tibet Native or find it on your own at the border The border is crazy The Chinese side is superefficient and your guide will walk you right through immigration and customsbut once you exit the Chinese building and cross the bridge you are moving back in time The roads are all mud the jeeps and buses and lorries are everywhere and the Nepal immigration and customs is a tin shack Yesyou could negotiate with a jeep driver and save yourself some money but you really should consider allowing Tibet Native to book someone to meet you at the bridge escort you through Nepali customs and immigration and sit you in your own prebooked jeep for your journey Having seen it I cant imagine trying to do that negotiation upon arrival Tibet Native is your key to a smooth transition both in and out of the country Finally one last word about our guide and driver They found out that my wifes birthday was during the trip it was an accidentwe were trying to avoid exactly what wound up happening They went SO FAR out of their way to create and pay for a feast for us for dinner including a stage show bought a cake and candles which apparently isnt a thing in Tibet and gifted us with additional festival shawls It was really all too much and again YMMV of course but many thanks to Tibet Native for putting us together with such wonderful people We like to travel alone and for us a private vehicle guide and driver was worth the minimal extra expense Wed urge
