{"reviewer_id":"64D218B564C0F0CC0513B73018DF6551","reviewer_name":"vorreyer3","review_text":"I cannot express clearly enough how Tibet Native was the right choice for our time in Tibet. We wanted a trip that started in Lhasa, hit EBC, and ended at the Nepal border. Tibet Native worked to provide some subtle changes to their standard offerings to make sure that we had the tour that we wanted. Don't be afraid to ask them for changes to meet your expectation, they bent over backward to work with us. Their response time was incredible in getting to our e-mails, and when things got a little crunchy for us in the lead-up, they were always available to us on Skype to handhold us through issues that arose. The guide and driver that were with us throughout were both magnificent. They navigated an unimaginable amount of red-tape (documentation and whatnot) while still keeping us entertained and informed. The company owners took time to meet with us in Lhasa and, while your mileage may vary on getting that level of contact, I am confident that, should you want to meet with management, they'll make sure someone gets to you no matter where you are (at home or in China). As you will have read elsewhere, yes...you will have to put up with some conditions that are challenging. The hotels and restaurants offered, though, were as close to a Western standard as possible without going overboard (we want to eat where locals eat, not in places serving western fare. We want to stay in comfortable local hotels, not attempt to replicate a western chain). It's a challenging place...be prepared for it, and hire Tibet Native, they'll get you from point A to point B in comfort. Some specifics that merit your consideration as well. When Tibet Native gives you advice about how to obtain your China visa....listen to them. They won't tell you to lie on your Chinese visa, that would be unprofessional. However, *I* will tell you that you cannot put your legitimate itinerary on your visa application unless you are traveling in a group of 5 or more. As a party of two, I decided not to take Tibet Native's advice and I put our full Tibet itinerary on my visa application....it was promptly declined multiple times. When Tibet Native gives you advice, take it when it comes to a visa. I will also say that we took the overland exit to Nepal option, and you will be given the option to either BOOK transportation to Kathmandu with Tibet Native or find it on your own at the border. The border is crazy. The Chinese side is super-efficient, and your guide will walk you right through immigration and customs...but once you exit the Chinese building and cross the bridge, you are moving back in time. The roads are all mud, the jeeps and buses and lorries are everywhere, and the Nepal immigration and customs is a tin shack. Yes...you could negotiate with a jeep driver and save yourself some money, but you really should consider allowing Tibet Native to book someone to meet you at the bridge, escort you through Nepali customs and immigration, and sit you in your own pre-booked jeep for your journey. Having seen it, I can't imagine trying to do that negotiation upon arrival. Tibet Native is your key to a smooth transition both in and out of the country. Finally, one last word about our guide and driver. They found out that my wife's birthday was during the trip (it was an accident...we were trying to avoid exactly what wound up happening). They went SO FAR out of their way to create (and pay for) a feast for us for dinner (including a stage show), bought a cake and candles (which apparently isn't a thing in Tibet), and gifted us with additional festival shawls. It was really all too much, and again, YMMV of course, but many thanks to Tibet Native for putting us together with such wonderful people. We like to travel alone, and for us a private vehicle, guide, and driver was worth the minimal extra expense. We'd urge you to consider that as well, and by all means, these guys have earned your business with the way they treat clients.\n\nOh...right...one other thing. Everest Base Camp should be on any itinerary you create in Tibet. It was magnificent, and yes...we were lucky enough to have had a clear view at both sunset and sunrise, which you may not have...but any extra effort (which Tibet Native will essentially handle for you) is absolutely worth it to get there.","review_rating":5.0,"sentiment_class":"unknown","sentiment_result":0.7775174142222222,"sentiment_breakdown":[["I cannot express clearly enough how Tibet Sonam and his team are well organised and delivered beyond expectation. Their experience over many years of operation was evident as everything ran smoothly and we were keep fully informed of what was coming up. Our guide not only provided very good descriptions of the sites but also conveyed the spiritual side of life in Tibet. This added enormously to helping me understand more deeply Tibetan life. I would have no hesitation in recommending Sonam and his team to anyone looking for a very special experience in Tibet. They were kind, considerate, capable, respectiveful and caring people and very much deserve the excellent reputation they clearly hold in Tibet. Setting up the itinerary took us a few month. The agency is a young and flexible company that handled changes during the trip . We had always direct connection with the headquarter and could adapt the journey since it was quite ambitious. They called hotels in advance to ask to heat up the rooms for us. The guide spoke very good English. Him and the drivers were always understandingly helpful and we had a good time together. Sonam and his team went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time.
