However, they deserve it so let’s give it a try!\n\nWe chose the full gastronomic experience. The restaurant itself is simple yet one can see a great deal of attention to details. The service is highly professional yet friendly and relaxed, Sarah and her team know how to make their guests feel at home. The food is stratospheric as Franck is able to revisit traditional “Alsace” dishes yet brings his talent to deliver an exceptional culinary experience. The sommelier is able to marry to perfection every dish with a wide choice of drinks, I personally loved the fact he was also willing to take some risks in his choices like proposing us a cider to enjoy with the dessert.\n\nWhat set them apart is how they made us feel special. Indeed, when we got in touch with them to book a table, we had quickly mentioned it was for a special occasion but we did not expect any special treatment for it. However, they clearly had noted it and reserved us simple yet touching surprises! \n\nLast but not least, it is clear that Sarah and Franck have a special connection, which makes the whole experience unforgettable.\n\nTo sum it up, we feel that anyone going to Au Crocodile is up for a very very special and unique treat! \n\nChapeau! It is located at one walking street and is easy to find. The service was very good and attentive. Restaurant’s ambience was a traditional French deco and the space was rather tight. We had a la carte 3 courses of meal. They were all very delicious and excellent. It worths giving a try to book the table.","review_rating":5.0,"sentiment_class":"positive","sentiment_result":0.886437962857143,"sentiment_breakdown":[["I visited Strasbourg very often and got the chance to book a table in this famous restaurant.",["positive",0.92540914]],["It is located at one walking street and is easy to find.",["positive",0.9012695]],["The service was very good and attentive.",["positive",0.790051]],["Restaurant’s ambience was a traditional French deco and the space was rather tight.",["positive",0.94467115]],["We had a la carte 3 courses of meal.",["positive",0.9066025]],["They were all very delicious and excellent.",["positive",0.9777649]],["It worths giving a try to book the table.",["unknown",0.75929755]]],"reviewer_fake_points":-75}

{"reviewer_id":"C6FBAC8621491E4B86DE2736DDB5D0AC","reviewer_name":"davesmall","review_text":"We were drawn here by TripAdvisor's customer poll ranking Au Crocodile as the World's Best Restaurant.\n\nLet's get the bad news out of the way first. This is not the world's best restaurant. It was only the second best restaurant on this trip after Villa René Lalique in Wingen-sur-Moder France.\n\nIn all fairness we had a relatively inexpensive luncheon menu at Au Crocodile vs. an expensive dinner menu at Villa René Lalique. \n\nOur meal here was really excellent, the service was outstanding, and presentation was very good. In terms of value for money Au Crocodile's luncheon menu can't be beat.\n\nAu Crocodile has a young creative chef with a lot of talent. Check out the vegetable tart photo posted here as one example. The front of house service staff is also top notch.","review_rating":5.0,"sentiment_class":"positive","sentiment_result":0.8165801145454544,"sentiment_breakdown":[["We were drawn here by TripAdvisor's customer poll ranking Au Crocodile as the World's Best Restaurant.",["positive",0.8988428]],["Let's get the bad news out of the way first.",["unknown",0.6911232]],["This is not the world's best restaurant.",["unknown",0.39307907]],["It was only the second best restaurant on this trip after Villa René Lalique in Wingen-sur-Moder France.",["positive",0.830992]],["In all fairness we had a relatively inexpensive luncheon menu at Au Crocodile vs.",["positive",0.92007864]],["an expensive dinner menu at Villa René Lalique.",["positive",0.96281904]],["Our meal here was really excellent, the service was outstanding, and presentation was very good.",["positive",0.94020885]],["In terms of value for money Au Crocodile's luncheon menu can't be beat.",["positive",0.958789]],["Au Crocodile has a young creative chef with a lot of talent.",["positive",0.9356749]],["Check out the vegetable tart photo posted here as one example.",["positive",0.87443566]],["The front of house service staff is also top notch.",["unknown",0.5763381]]],"reviewer_fake_points":-25}

{"reviewer_id":"C26A13BBEB6C6403C587FE5D77960F18","reviewer_name":"Amstraveler","review_text":"To be honest I don’t go to enough Michelin star restaurants to be able to differentiate between them adequately. But a meal at Au Crocodile will not disappoint. \n\nFirst impressions: The visuals are really superb when you enter the restaurant. Fine modern French decor, flowers, a few oversized mirrors, paintings, great carpet, plenty of space per table, smartly attired waiters in black (apart from maître d’). Indirect lighting. When they actually get to serving it gets even better: The friendly attentive service is almost balletic as perfect dish placement is synchronised for two diners (synchronised for pairs of diners if you’re in a group of four or six – there weren’t any threes or fives around for us to see how those would have been handled !) Plate presentation carefully thought out in advance. Gloved hand to position cutlery. \n\nThere’s gentle background music which changed from bland piano renditions of midbrow classical to soft jazz somewhere around 2230. Not quite our taste but a very acceptable compromise; clearly a lot of thought had gone into how to handle the question of what sound (and what volume) to put out into the room. \n\nBut what we really came for is the food. The six course tasting menu was delicious throughout – if we had to choose favourites then our two would be the lobster and the pikeperch in a sauerkraut sauce. Classic French with a modern touch is how they promote what they do - no molecular cuisine here but superb ingredients, concentrated flavours and craftsmanship. If you like cheese include the cheeseboard with any number of other courses … faultless.\n\nPortions moderate – you don’t have to be very very hungry to enjoy the six dishes, but you will have eaten enough ! \n\nMatching wines were all delicious. But surprisingly young – nothing wrong with a 2017 Pouilly-Vinzelles (the excellent vintage more than makes up for its youth) but the Crozes Hermitages (the only red) offered could have been a little more mature. We asked for one flight to be in half glasses rather than full glasses – occasionally the sommelier forgot so we got more than 50% of the volume for half the price …… no complaints. (We didn't look at the wine list). \n\nPacing was good and unhurried – we had three and a half hours to enjoy our six courses (plus five or six amuses thrown in before and during the food and with the coffee); tables on fewer courses arrived after us and finished (much) sooner. \n \nYou don’t come here to worry about money – just accept it will be expensive and that sparkling water is €9 a bottle. Our bill for two six course tasting menus and four and four half glasses of matching wines – plus a minimum of extras – was just short of €400. Is there anything wrong with a restaurant requiring an up front commitment (meaning: you pay if you don’t show) ? Well airlines, theatres and hotels have been doing it for years, so I don’t see why restaurants should be asked to be an exception. Especially if cancellation is free up to 24 hours in advance. Otherwise those who do turn up pay for the no shows – no thank you.","review_rating":5.0,"sentiment_class":"positive","sentiment_result":0.8172638742307693,"sentiment_breakdown":[["To be honest I don’t go to enough Michelin star restaurants to be able to differentiate between them adequately.",["positive",0.84471935]],["But a meal at Au Crocodile will not disappoint.",["positive",0.91062653]],["First impressions: The visuals are really superb when you enter the restaurant.",["positive",0.9186623]],["Fine modern French decor, flowers, a few oversized mirrors, paintings, great carpet, plenty of space per table, smartly attired waiters in black (apart from maître d’).",["positive",0.817002]],["Indirect lighting.",["unknown",0.78486586]],["When they actually get to serving it gets even better: The friendly attentive service is almost balletic as perfect dish placement is synchronised for two diners (synchronised for pairs of diners if you’re in a group of four or six – there weren’t any threes or fives around for us to see how those would have been handled !",["unknown",0.6824585]],[") Plate presentation carefully thought out in advance.",["unknown",0.59727424]],["Gloved hand to position cutlery.",["positive",0.85379267]],["There’s gentle background music which changed from bland piano renditions of midbrow classical to soft jazz somewhere around 2230.",["unknown",0.6970271]],["Not quite our taste but a very acceptable compromise; clearly a lot of thought had gone into how to handle the question of what sound (and what volume) to put out into the room.",["positive",0.9436326]],["But what we really came for is the food.",["positive",0.98191065]],["The six course tasting menu was delicious throughout – if we had to choose favourites then our two would be the lobster and the pikeperch in a sauerkraut sauce.",["positive",0.95267236]],["Classic French with a modern touch is how they promote what they do - no molecular cuisine here but superb ingredients, concentrated flavours and craftsmanship.",["positive",0.9737583]],["If you like cheese include the cheeseboard with any number of other courses … faultless.",["positive",0.80362153]],["Portions moderate – you don’t have to be very very hungry to enjoy the six dishes, but you will have eaten enough !",["positive",0.8815241]],["Matching wines were all delicious.",["positive",0.9781592]],["But surprisingly young – nothing wrong with a 2017 Pouilly-Vinzelles (the excellent vintage more than makes up for its youth) but the Crozes Hermitages (the only red) offered could have been a little more mature.",["positive",0.79328984]],["We asked for one flight to be in half glasses rather than full glasses – occasionally the sommelier forgot so we got more than 50% of the volume for half the price …… no complaints.",["positive",0.889763]],["(We didn't look at the wine list).",["unknown",0.65999573]],["Pacing was good and unhurried – we had three and a half hours to enjoy our six courses (plus five or six amuses thrown in before and during the food and with the coffee); tables on fewer courses arrived after us and finished (much) sooner.",["positive",0.98789525]],["You don’t come here to worry about money – just accept it will be expensive and that sparkling water is €9 a bottle.",["positive",0.9793211]],["Our bill for two six course tasting menus and four and four half glasses of matching wines – plus a minimum of extras – was just short of €400.",["positive",0.8486075]],["Is there anything wrong with a restaurant requiring an up front commitment (meaning: you pay if you don’t show) ?",["unknown",0.30100694]],["Well airlines, theatres and hotels have been doing it for years, so I don’t see why restaurants should be asked to be an exception.",["positive",0.85917646]],["Especially if cancellation is free up to 24 hours in advance.",["positive",0.9331802]],["Otherwise those who do turn up pay for the no shows – no thank you.",["unknown",0.37491742]]],"reviewer_fake_points":-120}
