Pros

It’s amazing how ngozi manages to capture emotions and weaves them so succinctly into words. Slowly unfurling the nuances of her story. Adichie is so real with her thoughts and feelings, that you experience them too.

Zikora is independent, resilient, strong, protective and can do it all. It's a delight to see a snapshot of her life. Her experience is distinctly different from my own reality.

It hits on a real and guttural level. A masterpiece. Captivating and interesting.

Her ability to write cross-culturally is brilliant. Chimamanda never disappoints.

Zikora tells her colleague donna that pregnancy is like body hair scrubbing and scrapping armpits and upper lip and legs. She calls her cousin, mmiliaku sobbing, saying she is scared to go through this pregnancy alone, scared to be alone.

Cons

Altogether a rambling depressing story. A short story has to be as well rounded as a full novel.
