You still need to periodically descale your coffee maker with a descaler product or citric acid. About a tablespoon of cleaner and a quick brushing quickly removes coffee oil residue. Rinse and wash with soap.

Metal carafe comes out sparkling and like new. Works well for daily travel mug and coffee side of drip machine.

Cons

Using the solution as instructed had minimal affect on light coffee stains in my thermal carafe. Quadrupling the ratio did not improve the result even after a 4 hour soak and brushing. The active ingredient is disodium metasilicate which is just water... Read More

Otherwise aside from the faulty packaging its a great product and does what its intended to do

I have the metal type carafe which was quite stained and this worked fairly quickly to remove the gunk

Could not get it cleaned and the stain built up to a dark brown coating

Just remember to run another pot or two with just water to rinse out the chemicals
