The key is traditional male/female connectors. There were some water intrusion but not enough to short out my outdoor christmas lights. There're 3 rubber ring to isolate the plug from water.

These only work if you are connecting traditional strings of lights in series

If you use multiway plugs and run two or three sets of lights from the plug which is usually threeway these simply are not designed to fit and cannot be modified to fit

Then you resort to plastic bags and rolls of tape or your favorite moisture mitigation techniqueif you use straight male to female connectivity these do appear to be tough and become inconspicuous in the installation

However many of the flashy led lights have square elongated plugs and these do not work for those elongated rectangular plugs
