Adding tivo gives me all the dvr capabilites and programmingguide features that you pay the cable company an extra 40 bucks for every month

And it gives me access to wireless services hulu amazon video and netflix directly through the tivo interface

Ive used the cable dvr tivo is just a way better experience and it comes from the control software

I cant tell you how many times i accidentally forwarded past the end of a commercial on dvr and saw the next play or whatever whereas on tivo that never happens
