Each chapter is devoted to a single figure of rhetoric, like alliteration, for example. Seems a bit repetitive in the chapter structure though, but i guess that's somewhat unavoidable.
For word lovers, the elements of eloquence is a treasure. The author’s advice is that we all be aware of and include “beauty” – an aesthetic of style – in our written and spoken english.

Mark forsyth's allusions to teaching expose him as merely self indulgent. It's like when someone is bragging about how they have access to something that you have only grasped at.
