The slot opening does come rather close to the edge of my cases back bracket but i didnt run into any clearance issues with my particular pc case

Its all dependent on the card your using as you can probably get a faster 32gb compact flash card that will fly with this thing

Im using this to setup my htpc with gbpvr installed xp on it and boot time was about 40 seconds to get to welcome screen

Newer interfaces would probably not see much of a performance increase unless the cf card is rated 400x or higher
