The screw mechanism similar to a turnbuckle is a bit sloppy making it tricky to engage the detents in the watch back but if you remove the watch strap and place the watch on a flat surface so you can apply the appropriate pressure dont hold the watch in your other hand lest a slip give you a nasty cut it works
