When you do it properly this stone will get your knives back to their original sharpness

If the blade is sharp it will slice right through

If you have any chips in the blade or if you need to rebevel the blade you should also pick up a rougher waterstone to rework the blade

Because it is two stones mashed into one it may have a greater tendency than usual to warp one way or another
