Pros
The remote lacks a lighted keypad this should be standard these days. The remote is no problem for us or the kids it isnt bad at all. It has a few more * than a regular remote but nothing overwhelming.
Dvd image quality is very good. Playback/pause works smoothly, although ff/rew scan takes some getting used to if you're coming from the vcr world. A bit wider than my original vcr.
Samsung dvd-v1000 plays dvds without skipping or * up. Crystal clear playback on the vhs tapes (when the in/out lines are used - easy hookup) bookmarks for the dvd. Great if you have a ton of vhs tapes but are ready to either get a new vcr or better y... Read More
Cons
The dvd player takes forever to read and review the dvd before beginning play or display of menu. The remote is very limited, and not at all intuitive.

An additional drawback is whenever the vcr channel is changed the vcr signal interupts the television mode on most video players this usually happens only when going from tv to vcr mode

This is a real pain if you use pictureinpicture pip as i do you then have to press the tvvcr button after changing channels

I have to remove dvds before using other features and have had to turn everything off and back on before my tv would work properly after i took out the dvd

The vcr is great at regular speed but less so when its put at 6 hr recording
