Look if you have your own vehicle with the option to install a rearfacing child seat which also offers side impact protection thats clearly the safest option

If you can open a real carabiner you should be able to handle this type of buckle though their mechanism is not at all alike

I have regular carseats in my minivan but sometimes when a relative wants to take my 3 year old out for lunch or to the park its awesome to know that i dont have to go through the gruelling hassle of uninstalling and reinstalling then uninstalling and reinstalling again the carseat

Lifesaver for journeys in uber grandparents travelling etc when carting carseat around would be an issue
