The comb pulls up both the top hairs and the lower layers

Where the metal comb meets the wood handle there is a metal collar that broke loose long ago so it just rattles around but its just decorative abd affects nothing

What i like best about it is that while my knockoff does a great job of moving fur to the surface it leaves big drifts of hair at the end of a stroke
