Pros

This product is awesome. Definitely a good bang for a buck. It was priced within my budget and is just the right size for me as a starter.

It runs very smooth and quiet and has plenty of torque for what i need. It is smooth and no vibration. The lathe runs quietly and smoothly.

Speed changes are a tad difficult, especially after getting used to electronic variable speed. Switching speeds is pretty quick with the rikon lathe. Lowest gear on it has plenty of speed.

Cons

Missing tool rest, wrench, and large knockout bar. Won't be in stock until 10/13.

Quality

Base upon on line reviews i bought the rikon primarily because of the quality bearings they use

So impressed with the quick response from both seller and rikon

I decided that rather return it and wait for another one that i could live with the one broken lug

The drive center and spur center that comes with the lathe are just okay so i added new centers which makes it much easier to use

Price

Its big enough to do 95 of what i might want to do and the price was right and its stable and small

It was bigger then i expected the price was great the range of speed was good and the power is pretty awesome too

Shipping

So far no problems at all with either shipping or the lathe itself

Contacted amazon and in about 7 or 8 minutes i had a ups shipping label and 2 days later i had a new lathe

Just know that the shipping company doesnt care to lug your stuff around for you

Packaging/appearance

It took a few years before i had to buy one and i did some investigation and this seemed to be the best of the litter

It is the handling and packaging of the rikon

The rikon 70100 is rock solid and is practically ready to run right out of the box

Competitiveness

Other than that its a fantastic product for the price

Its heavy strong with a strong motor
