I use a dab of mineral oil for conditioning my fretboards instead
If you have never used lemon oil on your fretboards do it now

It should be applied on a soft cloth and not on the guitar directly just in case of overspill

If you are wanting to try a high grade lemon oil or something special this probably wont fit the bill
