The bulbs do not make any noise and the crystal tip scatters the light to simulate the light that is emitted from an incandescent bulb

The bulb itself is not decorative but philips also makes a slimmer more decorative bulb in with a candle tip

As far as the candle design goes it needs some work lacking as it does the flair which the incandescent bulbs had

This bulb features a plastic crystal which emits the leds light surrounding this is a thin glass material

I know this because i dropped one of the bulbs during installation and the outer glass shell broke however the led light itself under the plastic crystal emitter continue to work and has not changed the bulbs performance

All in all a good choice among led bulbs that i have personally tried among different brands like feit ge as well as some cheapos that seemed like a bargain but were only a bargain if color or light output did not matter

Great bulbs you have to look real close to see they are leds
