Pros
I've been involved in top level audio for many years, this volume control is incredible. Very impressed. All this for an affordable price.
The slide bar is smooth and provides a good range of volume. No static sounds when adjusting volume, which is nice. I'm very pleased with the way this volume control works, sounds and looks.
This new control was priced right and easy to install. Includes so many install accessories to allow an install that meets your needs. Thats much easier.
Removable terminal blocks make wiring this control much easier. The screw connectors are small, but provide solid contact and are well-marked to know which wires go with which connector. Definitely test before final mounting.
Cons
The knob has to be carefully put in the perfect position in order to get any audio. When dialed up to the highest level, the volume is throttled back several levels which defeats the purpose of volume control. Using russound x 225 amps set at half pow... Read More
Install (difficult in outlet box) tight for 14gauge speaker wire. Micro speaker connectors fall right off the clips holding it on to the board. Switch likes to move when you put in in the box if it catches on a wire.

Works great though the phoenix connectors are low quality they are hard to tighten down and dont snap on very solid

Price was very reasonable as compared to what looks like the very same product from crutchfield
The price was fair shipping rapid and it worked as expected

I accidentally figured out that the screwdown wire lugs are on a connector that slides off the control
Competitiveness
Installed easily and worked which is more than i can say for the monoprice product
I bought a cheaper product from monoprice first and had to replace it with this one

Most will probably work but the shallowest boxes might present a challenge particularly if you have a lot of excess wire in the box

The hard part is that you only have about a quarter of an inch bare wire to go in the terminals

Having longer wires helps but becomes an issue when putting the unit in the electric box

I was lucky that i could pull it out the back and attached them to the bottom of the shelf above

If putting in a closed wall i would cut some of the back of the box out
