Fischer chess solves this, but that's another story. It's the benefits of chess and checkers, but it’s more fun (unless you’re a die-hard) this game is even more challenging than chess.
It is quick, simple to learn, and the victories are quite rewarding. If you like strategy, this is fun. It ratchets up the challenge of getting good at it.
The game is (at first) seemingly simple, but there are some nice layers to make it challenging and fun. It is easy to learn and most importantly fun.
My 8yo enjoys this game as much as his 70yo grandpa. The game starts with pieces on the opposite sides of the board, anticipation in the air.

The only luck involved with this game is in the drawing of the cards at the beginning other than that this game is all strategy
