Pros
The blade gap is easily adjustable to meet the needs of just about anyone. The derby original blades work best for me. The rounded edges increase the distance between the blade and edges.
For me (still experimenting) treet platinum so far is the best!
The merkur futur is beautifully styled and made. The blade is fantastically sharp and made a perfectly clean cut. This is much simpler to use than my last razor which was more mechanically complex.
The anodized aluminum finish seems really tough. The razor is (relatively) lightweight for such solid construction.
The handle is not * down. It's a no-brainer. It is a phenomenal razor.
Cons
Not bad razor but unnecessary design flaws force a low rating. Just bad qc. The design is a complete failure in my opinion. It appears to be constructed from some sort of cheap cast metal.

Ive been shaving for over twenty years with safety razors and nothing comes close to this masterpiece
This creates tougher skin and makes hair more difficult to reach the surface
Price
My total cost to begin this process was about 170 in 2020
Not worth the risk to save 10
Very expensive but well worth the money
I don’t obsess about blade brands just bought a cheap pack of 200 for 8
Packaging/appearance
Ive had mine for 6 years use it regularly and its just like the day i took it out of the packaging
The original blades come in blue green package and are smoother
Competitiveness
It gives a much smoother shave than my other merkur de razors
I switched to a derby premium and it works perfectly fine
This particular razor has caused me to purchase other de safety razors especially the ones manufactured by merkur
If id known my old razor is as bad as it is compared to this one id have bought it years ago

Before reading other reviews it honestly never even occurred to me that people could have concern about this issue it simply doesn’t come up with this finish

Lastly in terms of changing the blade yes you take the whole top of the razor off but since the grip is on the sides i’ve never felt like this is any sort of safety risk

Once you’ve used the razor the blade tends to stick to the handle and doesn’t go flying off unpredictably as one might fear
