Pros

Hinged lid makes it so easy to clean and customize! Works so much better than my aqueon in the same size. Easy to disassemble, firstly, and it's so much easier to clean than the old rectangular ones.

It comes with reusable cartridge holders and i make my own filter cartridges. No algae as of yet and nitrate/nitrite levels are great.

The only negative aspect is the fact that the two filters need to be changed each month. Overall, a powerful, reliable filter. Have always loved the quality of marineland products.

These are great filters. The improvements are wonderful. Very impressed. Would highly recommend.

Cons

The design is sill the basic outdated blue pad and thin medial basket design. The box was to small for the filter and the cartages that came with causing the hinge on the lid to break.

When turning the dial for stronger flow, water spills out all over! Rim and then down the back of the tank. The motor caught on the lip of the rim.

The output works perfectly for my small 20 gallon tank

Not sure where to begin with the problems hair line crack made it leak intake tube along with bottom of motor kept falling off

I did leave the upper filter intake off because i needed the extra two inches to keep the filter basket off of the bottom

I stuffed the pickup basket with charcoal infused foam to keep my tiny shrimps from getting sucked onto the filter

Competitiveness

It leads you to the new included media basket where i currently have a handful of fluval biomax topped with filter floss

With my warrantee claim i will now give them 5 stars across the board

It started getting noisy so it was bought as a bday present

Went to try it out no water yet just fitment and it would not fit on the rim of a 150gal aqueon tank
