The benefits outnumber those problems. I use it to freeze baby food and it has worked wonderfully for that. They are also nice for crayons, candy, or babyfood. I am in the process of converting all my kitchen stuff to either silicone, wood or metal.

Silicone trays make popping out just 1 or 2 cubes of ice easy. They just pop right out, no resistance, perfectly flexible and pliable tray.
