The first time i vacuumed with this not only were the carpets clean but you could already see the tiny particles it had filtered from going back into ghe air

Have not tried washing one yet so it remains to be seen how it stands up under repeated washes

Not sure the hoover filter is washable

At this price it does not even pay to wash them very often if at all

Also i have a dog and the smell from the original filter was horrible every time i turned the vac on even though i emptied and cleaned not washed the filter before putting it away

My vacuum has a small handle to turn the filter against a plastic edge to help clear junk that has built up in the filter folds and because this one is too tall it will not turn
