It does take at least 10 minutes to connect with the internet over cellular when you first use it in a country so it does not appear to be something you could use immediately getting off the plane without some time to set up and connect

I could not just pop it into my backpack and have it keep supplying data for online mapping while walking about as it would automatically shut down when not actively receiving data
