Pros
Disassembling both drives and combining the new laser assembly with the old pcb, worked great to fix my (third) xbox 360. Some people say their drive got a lot quieter but mine seems just as loud.
The drive works like a charm and now all of my games are playable again. Works like a champ.
There are two switches that are soldered directly to the board. Have to solder boards in and out of old one.
It is very helpful as you move through the process. Slight doubt on quality but working well. If you want a sure thing so your project doesn't drag out for a few days (open, fix and close in the same day), this is the way to go.
Cons
Advertised as 'new' it is not new, so how long before it fails like my old 10 year old drive since this one i received is only one year newer. Very misleading and really feels like a bait and switch. My first transaction with amazon wrong.

It is definitely new old stock as it had a mfg date of 2010

My bros xbox 360 had a couple issues but one of the biggest ones was that the disc tray would not open

We used to have to pry it open with one of his guitar picks after pressing the open button but at one point that stopped working entirely

And whenever the thing did open we couldnt get it to shut

You have to remove the circuit board in the old one and solder it into the new disc drive in order for it to actually work because theres a security feature in the xboxs software that prevents any drive from working that didnt come with that particular console

I managed to take the xbox apart and remove the old drive

I ran a test to see if the new mechanism worked and id be lying if i said i didnt literally cry from happiness seeing that thing open for the first time in years
