It took a few steps to get this printer working well but now it does i’ll describe the steps below

Step 1 wifi connection to router

This initially seemed to work well but then the printer would go into deep sleep and upon awakening would receive a new ip address from the router

Computers that had accessed the printer previously would still have the old ip address so when you tried to print the computer would try to access the old ip address unsuccessfully and the document would get hung up in the printer queue and would be difficult to cancel

Eventually the computer would obtain the new printer ip address but the process was a hassle

This is not a brother specific problem but occurs for many printers that wifi connect to a router

Turns out the solution to the changing ip address is to reserve a fixed ip address for the printer in the router configuration so everytime the printer asks for an ip address from the router the router gives it the same ip address
