The * part seems thin and the clinchers changed shape as i used the pliers to bend in the clamp. I'm sure the leak can be stopped by applying some sort of sealant to the inside of the hose to bond it.

No matter what i did to make it seal it would not seal

I ended removing the crimp and adding an ear clamp
