That is a little disconcerting but that is not a design flaw because there is flap that goes over the hammer which renders the revolver inoperable even if the trigger is unintentionally pulled

To draw the gun you would disengage the snap with your thumb

The thump strap secures the hammer firmly and the snap comes loose with a nudge of the thumb

Like others have stated though the thumb snap is difficult to work with the gun in the holster at first
