Pros & Cons
Pros
The pg278q has a max refresh rate of 100 fps, but 60 by default. G-sync works very well, the ips screen is accurate with the colors, and the refresh rate is more then ample. Even on the best of settings the clarity compared to native 1440p wins hands ... Read More
The picture quality is amazing and its very immersive. I wish the photos i attached would show the detail, vibrancy, and contrast in the colors. The ips panel in the monitor has very bright and clear colors, but you will have some backlight.
Cons
Backlight bleed and ips glow is horrible. Everything i play or watch has a horrible yellow tint. It * because the flickering at the top has gotten a little better, but my screen flickering on and off has gotten worse.
Asus gives you a down firing rog logo that is more of a distraction than anything else. Acer’s design is much more subdued and less “gamer” focused. Do not buy this, buy the alienware aw3418dw.
Monitor is defective and not covered by warranty. When turned off, it goes into factory burnin mode.
Google shows it's a common problem. Have been complaining to them on their boards, they know it's an issue.

Competitiveness
Major upgrade from my 60hz 1080p monitor
First ultrawide i’ve owned i’ll never get anything else now
0 connection only supports up to 60hz refresh rates if you want to increase it above that you must use the dvi ports instead
But at 75hz and up game frame rate suffers
