Most of the problems with the shield seems to be the fault of their poorly designed and manufactured remote

It also gives you a button for adjusting the volume which is so poorly implemented on the shield remote

In order to save battery life the unit will go to sleep though you can also turn it off completely

Pressing any button will restore the unit to ready mode

Now if nvidia would replace the cheap wireless chip in the shield the company would have an almost perfect media server
