However i thought they were broken because they light didnt come on with a typical pressclick like most bike lights

You must hold them down for much longer than you would think to get them to come on

A problem developed when the usb port came dislodged inside the unit and i could not recharge

The only downsides are a you have to unscrew it into two pieces to charge it so you have to keep track of the part that isnt charging and b you have to press it for a few seconds to make it turn on and off
