I owned the roomba 675 before "upgrading" to the i7. I absolutely love that I can send the i7 to a specific room, since there are rooms in the house that need daily vacuuming and others that only need it once a week. Both models did great on the hard floors which are the majority of the house, but I was so surprised when the i7 didn't do well against cat hair on our area rugs. We have no-pile/flat woven, low pile, and medium pile rugs. It doesn't do well on any of them. The problem seems to come down to the rubber roller that replaces the bristle roller that was on the 675. The rubber roller doesn't pick up cat hair as effectively and also deposits what it does pick up in large clumps all over the carpet. Another thing to note is that if you have even moderately long hair you will need to unscrew and clean the side brush almost every time you vacuum. I don't mind doing the maintenance, but it could be very burdensome to others. Overall, if you don't have pets and everyone in your house has short hair I imagine it will all be smooth sailing for you. For me, I hate that the carpets are still dirty after this $600 vacuum goes over them. I would really like to see an option to replace one of the rubber rollers on this model with a bristle roller.  Read Less
