Pros
Classic retro resort hotel. Cabins clean, comfy and roomy. Rooms 16-22 have lake views.
Staff are exceptional. The staff are very friendly and the service stellar. Staff polite and responsive.
If you're looking for a place that's conveniently located in the center of everything black hills, this is it. There is a great bike trail that goes right by the resort along a river, and a great kid-friendly hiking trail is right there.
Cons
The location is beautiful - the one redeeming factor. I'm sure the newer facilities are nice but they need to update some of the older units before building new stuff. Not everyone flies in.
Just a hotel closet. Get a dresser or 2. You know how the say that you should replace your mattress ever 8 years?
Advertised free use of paddle boats for guests but didn't take advantage of it. Lake is a shallow (less than a foot) artificial pond with ducks and geese.

We set up our own volleyball court in the grass behind the lodge and the next day someone came by and mowed the area even though the grass was still in good shape
